PROCUREMENT STRATEGY
The Currie & Brown team developed a staggered procurement
strategy that is benefiting local contractors.
If all the procurement projects had been launched at one time,
the market would have been flooded, and this could have limited
the competitive bids. By staggering the release of tenders, the
Currie & Brown team provided local contractors with more time
to form joint ventures with international companies. Not only
were more competitive bids received, but the Qatar construction
sector, as a whole, benefited.
A COLLABORATION THAT WENT BEYOND THE
CALL OF DUTY
The Currie & Brown team has been praised for its work as well as
its willingness to pass on knowledge to its partner and the client.
Although training was not part of Currie & Brown's contract, the
team was happy to share its knowledge and leadingedge
training in procurement, tendering, design economics, and cost
planning with partners--an approach that sets it apart from its
competitors.
A final benefit has been the satisfaction that results from working
on a project of such magnitude. The expressway will bring great
benefits to the people of Qatar in the near future--on a scale
which will probably not be seen again for another generation.
