Project Map
During concept or schematic design stages,
the Project Map section can also support the
sustainable design process by identifying
reference projects, which can serve as design
inspiration if their climatic, environmental
and socioeconomic conditions are fully
or partially aligned with the project being
considered. During developed design
stages, this section can also help point out
precedents for sustainable design strategies
and technologies.
Dar Capabilities
The Dar Capabilities section allows users to
search through a directory of professionals
within Dar AlHandasah with specialist
knowledge in sustainability. The names
of sustainability professionals within the
Sustainability Group, or those who have taken
part in the design of reference projects or
authored documents on the website will be
included, as well as their contact information
and curriculum vitae.
In addition, this section would also include
Dar's sustainability capability statements
and other outreach and marketing resources,
outlining the benefits of sustainability
applicable to different project types and
market sectors.
Standards & Regulations
Sustainability ratings systems such as LEED,
Estidama, GSAS, and BREEAM can be explored
through the Standards & Regulations section
of the Sustainability Portal, enabling users
to determine the applicable rating system
for a particular project based on: location,
project type (new building, neighborhood
development, refurbishment) and market
sector (healthcare, education, office,
residential, etc.).
Rating systems' documentation, Standards and
Regulations will also be accessible through
precedent reference projects, allowing the
Portal's users multiple ways to access the data.

The Sustainability Portal can be used to add value to projects at different design stages.
At concept design/schematic design stages, project teams would find the Analysis
Map, Project Map, and Dar Capabilities sections most useful. During developed design/
design development stages, project teams would benefit from access to Standards and
Regulations and rating systems as well as access to design research and project case
studies. During technical design/construction documents stages, teams would continue
to benefit from access to Standards & Regulations and rating systems, as well as
technical research. The dotted line linking the main sections of the Sustainability Portal
indicates alternative access.
