THE WORLD EXPO: A MAGNET FOR THE
EXTRAORDINARY
The first of May saw the opening of the
sixmonthlong universal exposition Expo
Milano 2015. This is the second time in the city's
history that Milan is hosting the global event, the
first being way back in 1906. Over 140 countries
are participating under the theme "Feeding
the Planet, Energy for Life," and the exposition
estimates it will welcome over twenty million
visitors.
ENGINEERING THE CREATIVITY OF IDEAS
As a company based in northern Italy, Maffeis
Engineering is proud to be participating in this
onceinalifetime event. We are excited that
Expo Milano 2015 will bring Italian science, craft,
design, and culture to an international audience.
Furthermore, our team is proud that we had the
privilege of contributing our engineering skills
in yet another world expo.
After our work in the Hanover and Shanghai
expos, old clients as well as new architects and
construction companies invited us to provide
design development and engineering services
for their extraordinary structures.
The following projects required us to solve
a host of engineering challenges, often
under tough time constraints. But, through
consultations with renowned architects on their
creative Expo structures, structural analysis and
executive workshop drawings, we successfully
supported structures using membrane materials
such as PVC, ETFE and of course steel and
aluminum for geometrical complex structures.
