The story goes that a group of soldiers were lost
in the Alps. One of them offered a map, which
the group used to agree on a route. Eventually, the
soldiers made it to safety. Once safe, they realized
one important thing: the map wasn't of the Alps
but of the Pyrenees.
Whether fact or fiction, the story's message is clear.
When unsure of direction, we need cues to focus
our attention on what's happening around us.
And trends in the design community are a bit like
that Pyrenees map. They give insights into clients'
concerns, and while they don't provide solutions,
they are directional. They help focus priorities
and find a way to the destination.
