In addition, comfort, health and wellbeing were made a design priority. Strategies include large areas of green roof which will require no decreasing the urban heat island effect. It is hoped this method of collaborative design can be a blueprint for many future Dar Group projects. An ongoing example of the London Sustainability Group's integrative work is the Dar Sustainability Intranet Portal. Dar employees may already be familiar with this tool, which aims to cover all scales of resilience planning. We previously reported on the new portal (Dar Magazine: Issue 9), and since then the team in London have been working closely with the Geographic Information System and Information Technology teams in Beirut to develop a new mapping application and to upload several new research and training materials. The end goal is to develop a fully integrated design process where Sustainability and Resilience analysis can be carried out increasingly automatically on the portal, and easily shared with all relevant members of the design team. |
