Notice anything different? In fact, our magazine has undergone a
rebranding. It's part of a much larger identity uplift here at Dar, and you
can read all about it in the first article.
Elsewhere in this issue, we look closely at adaptation and resilience,
two emerging areas in the sustainability field. The first article sets
adaptation and resilience in a global context; there are serious
challenges but also bright spots. The second, by Dar's London
Sustainability Group, addresses what the firm is actively doing about
adaptation and resilience.
Mighty cantilevers take the stage in Oman, where our engineers are
helping build great, beautiful bridges. Meanwhile, on the other side of
the world, Perkins+Will showcases two very interesting projects: the
headquarters of a bicycling company and a museum inspired by the
more colorful side of San Francisco.
What's been happening around our network? A bevy of awards, for
one thing - including Elementa's two awards at the CIBSE Building
Performance Awards, as well as the Integral Group's green project
awards for the Exploratorium and the J. Craig Venter Institute. There is
also Currie & Brown's expansion into Asia Pacific and India, as well as a
recent environmental certification.
We hope you enjoy these and the other stories we are bringing you
including the growing interests in public-private partnerships in the
U.S., the function of Project Controls and the redeployment of massive
oil vessels.
