Maintaining momentum
Dar Amman continues to grow
By Dar Amman and the Technical Coordination Department, Dar Al-Handasah
Two years on, Dar Amman is still on the up and up. A couple of issues ago, DarMagazine reported on the launch of Dar Amman, Dar’s fifth central design office. In the time since its opening, Dar Amman has reached several milestones, even as it looks ahead.
Projects
During the past two years, the Amman office has grown into one of Dar’s main design offices capable of leading large design projects including: • Healthcare facilities • Mixed-use complexes • Special laboratories and research facilities • Educational facilities • Light industrial projects • Convention centers. Projects are produced using Building Information Modeling (BIM)/Revit, the office’s chosen design production tools. This includes interior design work, where 3D views have been successfully created in Revit for the first time in-house. The office has also started to provide technical and management assistance to construction projects.
Future
With the office entering its third year, more ambitious plans and targets have been set. Staff numbers are anticipated to reach 450 by 2015, and the office will be expanding into the adjacent building, doubling the present capacity. We are also planning on establishing new departments and dedicated design units concentrating on specialty design, project management and technical construction support, using advanced design and engineering software packages and production tools.
