Environmental and Social Management Planning; Action Planning
Too often, project impact assessments identify impacts that need to be addressed, but provide little in the way of plans to manage those impacts. In fact, this issue is still being addressed by the international financing organizations. However, many clients are still unaware of, or misunderstand, the extent of their responsibility to implement an appropriate environmental management plan.
At Dar, we know that this potential mismatch between client expectations and those of other stakeholders can be a source of project delay and cost. To avoid this, we sensitize clients from an early date to the fact that the environmental impact assessment process does not end with the approval. Rather, it ends with the effective implementation of the action plan.
