Tunneling
Tunneling can be challenging because different locations have their own perils and pitfalls. At Dar, we have designed over 200 km of road, rail and other tunnels in some of the most difficult locations in the world. Our teams know how to solve these site-specific challenges.
We are experts in both soft-ground and rock-tunneling technology. Our teams employ 3D finite element software to estimate deflections and continuously monitor the construction to verify design. The experience in tunneling is quite varied. It has covered vehicular and pedestrian underpasses; cut-and-cover tunnels; underground rapid transit stations; culverts and other drainage structures; and galleries (rock shelters) in mountainous terrains.
