Tanzanite gemstones and Mount Kilimanjaro: An architectural tribute to Tanzania’s heritage
The stadium’s iconic design is inspired by Tanzanite gemstones and Mount Kilimanjaro, two of Tanzania’s most treasured symbols. These elements are woven into the architecture, creating a distinctive and modern venue that embodies the nation’s identity and pride. Beyond aesthetics, the project meets the highest international standards, adhering to CAF and FIFA regulations and ensuring a world-class experience for both players and spectators.
Named in honor of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the stadium follows a tradition of naming major national projects after sitting leaders. In Tanzania, previous leaders have been honoured through developments such as Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. Across Africa, similar traditions exist, as seen with Senegal’s Abdoulaye Wade Stadium and Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium honours the president’s extensive support for the sports sector and will stand as a landmark for generations to come, serving as a platform for sports, entertainment, and community engagement.
This project will be a key driver of economic and social impact. As a major addition to Arusha’s tourism landscape, the stadium is expected to attract international visitors for sports and cultural events. During its construction, the project is already creating employment opportunities, boosting local businesses and infrastructure development.
A legacy for future generations
The Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium is not just a venue—it is a statement of Tanzania’s ambition to be at the forefront of African sports and infrastructure. Combining world-class design with deep cultural roots, this project will leave a lasting impact, uniting communities and advancing Tanzania’s presence on the international stage.
