On February 23rd, the May Chidiac Foundation hosted the seventh edition of its landmark Women on the Frontlines (WOFL) Conference in the Fairmont Hotel, Amman in Jordan.

Held under the patronage of His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan and sponsored by Dar, the conference featured exceptional female pioneers and thought leaders from around the world and from all walks of life, sharing stories and insights that spotlight women’s leadership and resilience and advocating for initiatives that empower women and promote gender equality across various sectors. Key discussions revolved around peacebuilding, women’s roles in AI, investigative journalism, and the impact of conflict on women and children, particularly in Gaza.

The event featured a Chairperson Note address from Mrs. Maha Shair, a leading philanthropist, who also moderated an engaging fireside talk with award-winning journalist Baria Alamuddin, on the power of the pen and the rapidly evolving landscape of journalism.

A delegation from Dar, led by Chairman Talal Shair and including Dar’s Director of Operations in Jordan Abeer Tarawneh along with a group of leading female professionals from Dar’s Amman office, attended the conference. During the proceedings, Dar also presented a special video, spotlighting the pivotal role of women within our company and celebrating their contributions to engineering, design, and leadership.

The May Chidiac Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing women’s rights and freedom of speech and playing a pivotal role in promoting democracy and peacebuilding across the Middle East. As a longstanding supporter of this cause and a signatory to the United Nations’ Women Empowerment Principles, Dar has previously sponsored the conference and continues to reaffirm its dedication to advancing women’s leadership and inclusion and fostering an environment where women can thrive as leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
