Dar specialists in smart technology and urban planning will share practical perspectives on the future of city streets at the biennial conference hosted by Notre Dame University-Louaize.
This week, Dar will take part in the 7th International City Street Conference, hosted and organised by the Ramez G. Chagoury Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design (FAAD) at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) in Lebanon. Taking place from 27 to 29 October 2026, with registration on the opening day and conference sessions commencing on Wednesday, 28 October, this year’s edition is held under the theme “Flexible City Streets: Future Challenges and Smart Adaptations.”
Three Dar experts will take the stage across the conference to bring an industry perspective to the academic programme, complementing the scientific papers presented across the conference tracks with lessons drawn from real projects.
A platform for the future of urban streets
The City Street Conference returns every two years, and each edition draws researchers, practitioners and decision-makers into the same room, to examine how streets shape everyday life in our cities. This year’s theme puts flexibility at the centre, exploring how streets can respond to new technologies, changing mobility, a warming climate and growing populations.
This year’s programme brings together academics, urban planners, engineers, architects, municipalities and industry leaders to discuss resilient infrastructure, sustainable mobility, smart technologies and adaptive city development.
Dar’s contribution
Dar's participation will contribute an industry perspective to these discussions, drawing on the multidisciplinary expertise required to plan and design increasingly complex urban environments.
Representing Dar, Rafi Yalenezian and Aya Chamoun, both Smart Buildings and Technology Consultants and Domain Experts, will participate in Track 3, “Smart Street: Integrating Technology with Public Spaces”, which focuses on the intersection of technological innovation, urban design and public spaces.
Roger Neaimeh, Associate – Urban Planner, specialising in Planning & Urban Design, will participate in Track 4, “Adapting to Change: Urban Planning for Climate and Population Growth”. This track addresses the challenges of evolving urban environments, with particular attention to changing demographic patterns, environmental pressures, and the interconnected systems that shape urban life.
Connecting academic research with industry experience
Dar’s participation at NDU’s City Street 7conference reflects a long-standing commitment to knowledge-sharing between industry and academia, and supporting the next generation of planners, designers, and engineers. Dar continues to bring practical, global experience to the conversations shaping how cities grow, helping connect emerging research with the challenges encountered in real-world urban development.
