Dar has been shortlisted as one of the finalists for the prestigious Landscape Art & Landmark Legacy Award at the Landscape Middle East Awards 2024. This nomination celebrates Dar’s exceptional contribution to landscape design through its work on the Doha Expo 2023. The awards ceremony will take place on November 20th, 2024, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking a significant moment for the landscape architecture community in the region. Francesco Roesler, Head of the Landscape Architecture Unit, and Guylaine Raphael, Senior Landscape Architect will represent Dar at the event.

The Landscape Middle East Awards 2024, organised in collaboration with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Middle East and the Saudi Society of Landscape Architecture, is one of the most prestigious events in the region for landscape professionals. This international awards program celebrates the critical role of landscape architecture in promoting sustainability, creativity, and innovation.

This year’s ceremony will be distinguished by a 3-in-1 format, which includes an exhibition, conference, and the evening awards ceremony. This approach offers a comprehensive platform for industry professionals to showcase their innovations, engage in valuable networking opportunities, and gain insights from leading experts through discussions and keynote presentations. The exhibition will connect participants with top suppliers in the landscape architecture industry, while the conference will address the latest trends and challenges in sustainable landscape design.

Dar’s nomination for the Landscape Art & Landmark Legacy Award recognises the firm’s outstanding work on the International Horticultural Expo 2023 in Doha, Qatar, a global event featuring representatives from nearly 80 countries under the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment”. Commissioned by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Dar provided expert consultancy services for the design and development of several pavilions and gardens within the Expo site, located in Doha Municipality. Dar’s team was also responsible for creating modular kiosks and exhibition gardens for numerous other countries.

At the core of Dar’s design philosophy for the Expo is the harmonious integration of the built environment with nature. The landscape elements create tranquil spaces for relaxation, social interaction, and cultural engagement, allowing visitors to connect with both the natural world and one another in meaningful ways. Sustainability and accessibility were prioritised throughout the project, contributing to the creation of an inclusive and environmentally conscious space for all to enjoy. The design reflects a balance of aesthetic beauty, cultural exchange, and sustainability, ensuring that the pavilions and gardens meet both functional and environmental standards.

Dar is proud to make the shortlist for the Landscape Art & Landmark Legacy Award, and we are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to showcase the transformative power of landscape design. This recognition highlights our landscape team’s ongoing commitment to excellence and the company’s dedication to shaping landscapes that are both innovative and sustainable.
