Dar has signed an agreement with Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) to serve as the Master Civil Engineer on the Solidarity Airport in Poland, concluding one of the four key design tenders currently under award for Europe’s most ambitious new airport.

The Solidarity Airport is the centrepiece of one of Europe’s largest infrastructure ventures, the Solidarity Transport Hub, a planned transfer hub between Warsaw and Łódź which will integrate air, rail, and road transport. The Solidarity Airport will handle 40 million passengers a year in its first phase and will incorporate railway investments providing employment for over 150,000 people as well as an entire envisioned Airport City that will serve as a hub for commerce, business, and exhibitions.

As the Master Civil Engineer, Dar will develop interdisciplinary design plans and specifications for the technical infrastructure of the transport hub, including runways and taxiways, aprons, airport stands and other dedicated airport facilities and systems, utilities and service lines, as well as civil structures. Dar will also be tasked with securing the essential construction permits on behalf of CPK as well as providing on-site services (under the right of option) and consulting at every stage of the project.

Commenting on the award, the CEO of the CPK company Mikołaj Wild said: “We are very happy to have completed such a critical tender on time. The Master Civil Engineer is one of the first of the ‘Big Four’ developers of the airport project. The satisfaction is even greater that the winning bidder is such a well-known, renowned, experienced, and globally recognized company as Dar, with a track record of projects in Europe, the USA, the Middle East, Africa and India.”

“Dar is incredibly honoured and excited to be serving as the Master Civil Engineer on a project as ambitious and visionary as the Solidarity Airport, and we look forward to working with CPK and the other Big Four developers to deliver CPK’s strategic vision, through a highly sustainable, future-fit transport hub that meets the aspirations of its communities, both now and for years to come,” said Danny Aoun, Director of Regional Operations at Dar.
