Following an international tender competition, the Administrative Capital for Urban Development has awarded Dar a contract to masterplan Phase 2, Phase 3, and Phase 4 of the New Administrative Capital – a transformational new city that is envisioned to host Egypt’s governmental and civic institutions, establish a growth hub for future generations, and generate job opportunities and economic growth across Egypt.
The new award builds on Dar’s extensive track record in supporting the successful delivery of this strategic venture. Dar had previously assessed and validated the Strategic Master Plan for the entire 71,400 ha site envisioned for the new capital as well as the Master Plan for Phase 1 and the Detailed Master Plan for the Phase 1 Priority Area. During Phase 1, Dar had provided detailed architectural and engineering design for the entire Central Business District and prepared a master plan for the Capital Park Development Corridor which is considered the commercial backbone of the new capital. Dar was also tasked with supervising the construction of both these features, as well as the Governmental District, a large-scale campus built as a smart district to host the cabinet, parliament, and various government ministries.
The New Administrative Capital had recently seen extensive progress on the first phase, with the successful completion and delivery of various office towers in the Central Business District and with significant progress on the capital’s flagship Iconic Tower, which, once complete, is projected to become Africa’s tallest tower.
For the next three phases, Dar will focus on developing a detailed plan for the wider new capital, guiding the growth of the city and its industrial zone and setting provisions for its ultimate integration with surrounding cities, reaching up to the June 30 axis. Additionally, Dar will be responsible for designing all related utility and road networks, green spaces, investment plans, and future-fitness strategies covering everything from sustainability to opportunities for integrating artificial intelligence.
