Members of the Dar team recently participated in the World Green Building Week Event, hosted by the World Green Building Council, with a focus on "Advancing Sustainability in MENA" at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi.

The event featured H.E. Razan Al-Mubarak, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28, as the keynote speaker, followed by a warm welcome from Ahmed Baghoum, CEO of Masdar City. Both emphasized the paramount importance of sustainability within our built environment, with her excellency specifically acknowledging Dar's dedicated efforts in the region to promote sustainability, underscoring its significance in the lead-up to COP28.

The event revolved around discussions centered on seizing opportunities to advance sustainability in the context of COP28 and beyond. Balsam Nehme, Dar’s Head of Sustainability, presented an insightful overview of Dar's sustainability journey, highlighting our ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering this transition, our contributions toward decarbonizing the built environment, and our strategic roadmap leading up to COP28. The presentation also showcased Dar's extensive track record of delivering sustainable solutions across the MENA region by using tangible case studies of projects and successful project deliveries, thus demonstrating our commitment to advancing sustainability in the region.

Furthermore, during the event, Dar, in collaboration with WorldGBC, Emirates GBC, Egypt GBC, and Lebanon GBC, proudly unveiled the MENA Alliance for Green Schools—a pivotal initiative aimed at promoting green and sustainable practices in educational institutions throughout the MENA region.
