The iconic pedestrian skyway in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) has set a Guinness World Record for the largest continuous pedestrian skyway network in the world.

Spanning an impressive 15.46 kilometres, the KAFD Skyway Network is now the longest climate-controlled pedestrian bridge system in the world, offering a seamless, weather-protected alternative for pedestrians navigating the city’s vibrant financial district. This state-of-the-art infrastructure connects major buildings and public spaces, enhancing walkability and creating a dynamic, climate-controlled pedestrian environment. Beyond its practicality, the network reflects Riyadh’s vision of a sustainable and smart city, reducing congestion while fostering a pedestrian-friendly urban ecosystem, throughout one of the most rapidly developing business hubs in the region.

Dar, a trusted partner in the development of KAFD, was commissioned to provide supervision services for this monumental project.

The KAFD Skyway Network is just the latest triumph within the broader KAFD development. This monumental project, which spans over 1.6 million square metres, represents a transformative phase in Riyadh’s vision to become a global business centre. KAFD combines state-of-the-art commercial offices, residential developments, and leisure spaces that redefine the city’s skyline and drive economic growth.

As part of a five-year framework agreement with the King Abdullah Financial District Management and Development Company, Dar has provided comprehensive multi-disciplinary engineering design services to help deliver this transformational venture. These services have encompassed key infrastructure utilities and smart city solutions, ensuring a seamless integration of advanced technologies throughout the district and supporting KAFD’s vision for energy-efficient utilities and environmentally-conscious designs and for setting new benchmarks for sustainability in the region.

The KAFD Skyway Network’s Guinness World Record achievement is now a world-renowned symbol of KAFD’s dynamic, thriving future community, that embodies the Kingdom’s aspirations for innovation, sustainability, and economic diversification. We extend our congratulations to the King Abdullah Financial District Development & Management Company and all those involved in the success of the KAFD Skyway Network – a true testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and shared vision.
